Platform Engineer
A high-growth climate analytics company is looking for a Platform Engineer to help scale the infrastructure behind a global climate risk platform used by enterprise clients. This is an opportunity to work on large-scale geospatial datasets, high-performance compute workloads, and cloud-native infrastructure in a mission-driven environment.
You’ll collaborate closely with platform, data, and geospatial engineering teams to build reliable, scalable systems that power advanced climate modelling and analytics.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design and build scalable AWS cloud infrastructure
- Manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
- Optimise systems handling large geospatial datasets and compute workloads
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting
- Improve platform security and reliability
- Partner with engineering teams to support delivery and scaling
- Drive cloud cost optimisation initiatives
Tech Environment
- AWS (EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, VPC)
- Terraform / CloudFormation
- Kubernetes & Docker
- CI/CD (GitHub Actions, GitLab, Jenkins)
- Python / Bash scripting
- Observability (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog)
Requirements
- 3+ years experience in Platform / DevOps / Cloud Engineering
- Strong hands-on AWS experience
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar)
- Containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes/ECS)
- CI/CD pipeline development experience
- Monitoring and observability tooling
- Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, etc.)
- Experience working in agile engineering teams
