The Role
Most QA leadership jobs are really delivery management jobs wearing a technical badge.
This isn’t one of them.
This is a genuine Quality Engineering leadership position inside a specialist financial technology business whose platform sits at the centre of complex financial data workflows used by institutional clients globally.
The systems process large volumes of time-sensitive financial data where reliability, resilience, and accuracy genuinely matter.
One bad release doesn’t just create engineering pain.
It creates client escalation calls, commercial pressure, procurement concerns, and reputational damage.
That’s why this hire matters.
You’ll own quality engineering across the entire platform estate, not just inside one engineering squad. You’ll define standards, build enterprise-level test infrastructure, govern release quality, improve operational resilience, and create the framework that allows engineering teams to move faster without increasing risk.
And this is not a strategy-only leadership hire.
You’ll still be hands-on.
The expectation is that you remain close to the architecture, automation frameworks, performance testing, resilience tooling, and engineering quality posture rather than sitting above it.
What You’ll Be Building
You’ll own the cross-system end-to-end test architecture that validates the full platform data pipeline across all engineering teams.
You’ll build and evolve the automated regression framework that becomes the primary quality gate for production releases.
You’ll establish the enterprise scenario catalogue covering real-world financial workflows, edge cases, stress conditions, and operational failure scenarios.
You’ll define the standards around:
- Test coverage
- Automation reliability
- Synthetic data management
- Performance testing
- Quality gates
- Release governance
You’ll also lead the operational resilience programme covering load testing, throughput profiling, scalability limits, and SLO governance alongside DevOps and platform engineering.
And when production releases happen, you’ll hold final quality sign-off authority.
What Makes You A Strong Fit
You’ve led Quality Engineering in a SaaS, fintech, financial infrastructure, or complex platform environment.
You’ve built enterprise test infrastructure yourself, not just managed delivery teams around it.
You understand automation at scale, cross-system regression testing, and how to validate distributed platforms properly.
You’re comfortable with performance and load testing tooling such as k6, Locust, Gatling, or similar.
You’ve worked in cloud-native environments, ideally AWS.
You know how observability, CI/CD, resilience engineering, and release governance fit together.
And you can communicate technical risk in a commercially sensible way to leadership, product teams, and enterprise customers.
You’ll Fit In Well If
You think in systems rather than tickets.
You care about resilience as much as functionality.
You can challenge engineering teams without creating friction.
You prefer building things over writing governance decks nobody follows.
And you’re still technical enough to get into the detail when it matters.
