DevOps Engineer A hands-on DevOps role with real ownership across cloud infrastructure and deployment tooling, hybrid from a brand new Belfast city centre office, paying £65,000 to £85,000. About the Company Our client is a well established IT consultancy with a long track record of delivering complex infrastructure and cloud programmes for enterprise clients. They have recently opened a brand new office in Belfast city centre and are growing the engineering team there as demand from clients increases. This is a genuine growth hire rather than a backfill, and the team is at the size where the person joining will shape how things are done rather than inherit someone else's playbook. The Role You will work on a large-scale cloud and infrastructure programme, taking workloads from on-premise virtualised estates into AWS and improving how applications are built, deployed and run once they are there. The work spans both sides of that journey: the migration and infrastructure engineering itself, and the pipelines, automation and self-service tooling that developers use every day. It is a hands-on engineering role with direct client exposure, so you will be talking to stakeholders as well as writing the automation, and there is a clear route to senior and lead positions as the Belfast team grows. Key Responsibilities Design, build and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS, working primarily with EC2 and EKS. Migrate existing virtualised workloads from on-premise environments into the cloud with minimal disruption to the business. Build and improve CI/CD pipelines to make deployments faster, safer and more repeatable. Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration so environments stay consistent and repeatable. Deploy, manage and troubleshoot containerised applications running on Kubernetes. Develop self-service tooling that lets development teams provision and deploy without waiting on the platform team. Monitor platform health and performance, and respond to issues across production environments. Work directly with client stakeholders and internal engineering teams to translate requirements into working solutions. What You'll Need Strong hands-on AWS experience, particularly EC2 and EKS. This is essential, and the single most important thing we are looking for. Experience with VMware technologies such as vSphere or ESXi is highly advantageous, and candidates who bring both VMware and AWS together will be of particular interest. Solid working knowledge of Kubernetes and containerisation is essential, and experience with Helm is a strong advantage. Demonstrable experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines is essential. The specific tooling matters less than the depth, so pipeline experience on any platform is welcome. Experience automating infrastructure provisioning and configuration through code is essential, whatever tooling you have used to do it. Strong Linux administration skills and scripting ability in Bash or PowerShell. Genuinely strong communication skills are essential. You will be working directly with clients and explaining technical decisions to non-technical people, so this carries real weight in the interview. Experience with monitoring and observability tooling is a strong advantage. Exposure to cloud or data centre migration projects is a strong advantage. An awareness of security best practice within pipelines and container platforms is desirable. AWS certifications are desirable but not a substitute for hands-on experience. Why Apply?
