This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, supporting users, and getting involved in a wide range of IT projects.
Working closely with the IT Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring the systems, infrastructure, and users are fully supported, helping the business operate efficiently and effectively. This role offers excellent variety, combining hands-on IT support with opportunities to work on software development projects using C#, .NET, and SQL.

Hours: Monday - Thursday 8am - 5pm, Friday 8am - 1pm

The role:
As a System Support Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of our IT systems and infrastructure. You'll provide technical support across the business, diagnose and resolve issues, and contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of company systems.
In addition to IT support duties, you'll have the opportunity to work on software development projects, system improvements, reporting solutions, and business-critical applications.
Your key responsibilities would be to:
- Provide first-class IT support to users across all departments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, and infrastructure issues.
- Set up and commission new starters, including user accounts, hardware, and system access.
- Perform IT administration tasks across desktops, servers, and business systems.
- Assist with maintaining and supporting Windows-based environments.
- Create and maintain accurate technical documentation.
- Monitor systems and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support the implementation of new technologies and business systems.
- Participate in research and development projects for new IT solutions.
- Recommend hardware, software, and infrastructure improvements.
- Develop and implement business solutions using C# and .NET technologies.
- Produce reports and interrogate data using SQL Server.
- Ensure all company policies, health and safety procedures, and compliance requirements are followed.
You'll be the perfect candidate for this role if you have the following skills and experience:
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of:
- Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365
- Active Directory
- Windows 10/11
- Windows Server environments
Desirable skills & experience:
- Previous experience in an IT Support or Service Desk role.
- Experience with:
- Software installation and troubleshooting
- Network infrastructure, including firewalls, VLANs, routing, and wireless technologies
- VMware and virtualised server environments
- Windows Server administration
- Programming experience in:
- C#
- .NET Framework
- ASP WebForms / WinForms
- SQL Server experience, including reporting and data analysis.
- Experience using ticketing or job management systems.
