Senior/Lead C++ / Rust Developer
The Oho Group have partnered with a fast-growing Sheffield-based startup looking for a lead engineer to drive their C++/RUST development.
The Role
They are looking for a Senior / Lead C++ / Rust Developer to take ownership of critical components of our platform. You’ll play a key role in shaping architecture, mentoring engineers, and driving best practices across the codebase.
This is a hands-on leadership position—perfect for someone who enjoys both deep technical work and guiding a team.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing and building high-performance, low-latency systems in C++ and Rust
- Leading architectural decisions and influencing technical direction
- Writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Mentoring and supporting other engineers
- Collaborating cross-functionally with product and operations teams
- Continuously improving performance, scalability, and reliability
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience with C++ (modern standards) and/or Rust
- Proven track record in systems programming, performance optimisation, or low-level development
- Experience leading projects or teams (formally or informally)
- Solid understanding of memory management, concurrency, and system design
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
- Bonus: experience with distributed systems, networking, or embedded systems
