Senior Data Engineer Hybrid (1-2 Days) Up to £115K Python, DBT, Airflow, BigQuery, GCP/AWS

OB is partnered with a Unicorn FinTech that is building a world-class data platform to improve lending, and we're looking for senior engineers who love solving real problems with clean, scalable engineering. If you're passionate about data, backend systems, automation, and ownership end-to-end, this is a role where you'll ship fast, learn fast, and have real impact from day one.

You'll join the Data Platform squad as an immediate contributor. On day one, you'll write code locally and ship it to production. In your first month, you'll probably break something, then fix it, learn from it, and improve the system for everyone. That's how the team works.

What you'll work on

• Building internal data products and shaping the data warehouse
• Working across the stack: ingestion, modelling, orchestration, DevOps, cloud
• Contributing to a greenfield data platform designed for scale and self-serve
• Automating pipelines, improving data quality, and strengthening observability
• Working in a cross-functional, mission-led squad that owns outcomes, not tasks
• Rotating into other squads over time as your skills and interests evolve

You may be a good fit if you

• Have strong experience with modern data engineering tools and patterns (DBT, BigQuery, Airflow, Terraform, GCP/AWS)
• Write high-quality software with Python and SQL
• Understand ETL/ELT, orchestration, warehousing, and streaming data flows
• Bring a DevOps mindset: CI/CD, automation, you build it, you run it
• Enjoy mentoring others and learning from peers
