The Opportunity

I'm recruiting for a hands-on Lead Cloud Platform Engineer to join a highly advanced underwriting technology team working on a cloud-native platform used across major US property portfolios and now scaling globally. This is a modern engineering environment built around Azure-native services, containerisation, and ML-driven pricing models, with significant future investment and a global roadmap.

You'll lead technical delivery, elevate engineering standards, and drive performance, scalability, and reliability across a platform built end-to-end in Typescript, NodeJS, and Azure.

This role blends hands-on engineering with senior-level technical leadership and genuine influence across international teams.

What You'll Be Doing

Leading technical delivery and engineering quality across a high-visibility, cloud-native underwriting platform.
Designing, implementing, and optimising solutions in Azure, including Containers, AKS, App Services, and Azure Functions.
Improving platform performance, scalability, observability, and reliability.
Overseeing code reviews, production releases, development standards, and architectural decision-making.
Partnering with Product Owner and cross-functional teams
Introducing engineering discipline to an area transitioning from business-owned to IT-led.

Tech Stack & Skills

Must have:

Advanced hands-on experience with Typescript and NodeJS
Azure Cloud Native engineering (AKS, Containers, App Services, Functions)
Strong understanding of Azure compute, networking, storage & security
Proven background scaling and optimising cloud platforms
Ability to assess code and architecture verbally
Strong technical leadership, stakeholder management & communication
