Lead Development Specialist - Hybrid Manchester

Location : Manchester - 3 Days in the office Per Week

Salary : £80,000

Overview:

Lead and guide a development team in designing and delivering insurance-based solutions using the Microsoft technology stack (.NET Framework, .NET Core, MVC, Web APIs, SOA). This role focuses on translating business needs into high-quality, scalable applications while driving best practices and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development team in implementing modern, efficient, and secure solutions aligned with company strategy.
  • Design and document technical specifications, contribute to IT roadmap initiatives, and ensure quality delivery through code reviews and testing.
  • Collaborate with Business Relationship Directors, Architecture, Security, and Infrastructure teams to design and support business-critical applications.
  • Evaluate business requirements, design and develop complex solutions, and provide technical leadership across the SDLC.
  • Research new technologies and recommend cost-effective solutions.
  • Support production deployments and provide 2nd/3rd-level technical assistance.
  • Mentor junior and offshore developers, fostering growth and adoption of best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and security standards (e.g., SOX).
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and promote innovation within the team.

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of SDLC, architecture design, and software development best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proven experience leading development teams and mentoring others.
  • Customer-focused, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with insurance or finance data models preferred.
  • Flexible and adaptable to business needs.

Technical Expertise:

  • Must have: C#, ASP.NET, MVC, .NET Core, Web APIs, SOA, MS SQL Server (T-SQL, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS), Informatica, Strimm, Tableau/Power BI, SharePoint, Data Modelling, AI tools for development/testing.
  • Desirable: Experience integrating vendor applications and working with enterprise-scale systems.
