Lead Development Specialist - Hybrid Manchester
Location : Manchester - 3 Days in the office Per Week
Salary : £80,000
About the Role
As part of a strategic shift from vendor dependency to in-house development, we are seeking a Lead Development Specialist to take technical ownership of core financial systems. You will technically lead a small but growing team, bringing critical applications and integrations back in-house and driving modernisation across SQL Server, SSIS, and C#-based solutions.
This role sits within the Core Finance Development team, focusing on data integration, automation, and reporting across financial and insurance systems. You will work closely with the enterprise architect and architecture team to ensure robust design and delivery of scalable, high-performing systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across development, integration, and analysis functions.
- Lead Technically and mentor a team of 4 (1 BA, 3 Developers) and support their ongoing development.
- Own and enhance in-house financial and insurance data systems, previously supported by vendors.
- Design, develop, and maintain C# and SQL Server solutions.
- Develop and optimise SSIS and SSAS packages for data warehousing and reporting.
- Support data integration across multiple systems including cash management and automated payment systems.
- Ensure documentation and best practices for databases and integration flows.
- Collaborate with architecture, data analytics, and finance teams to align on data strategy.
- Extend and maintain existing products through BAU while supporting new project delivery.
- Drive adoption of new tools and technologies to enhance team efficiency and data quality.
Skills & Experience
- Strong background in software development and technical leadership.
- Expertise in C#, .Net, SQL Server, SSIS, and SSAS.
- Experience in data integration, ETL development, and data warehouse environments.
- Previous exposure to financial or insurance systems highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to trace data flow and resolve issues.
- Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating across architecture and business teams.
- Experience mentoring or leading small technical teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience transitioning systems from vendor-managed to in-house.
- Familiarity with SAS or other data analytics products.
- Background in cash management or automated payment systems.
