Manager, Actuarial Systems
Role: Manager - Actuarial Systems Development Location: London, Hybrid Salary: Competitive + Benefits
A well-established global reinsurer is looking for an experienced actuarial systems specialist to lead a small development team and drive improvements to their modelling capability. The role will focus on enhancing calculation accuracy, automating processes, and improving model performance, while supporting teams across multiple geographies.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role, combining coding expertise with stakeholder engagement and strategic project involvement.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the delivery and maintenance of actuarial models and related processes, ensuring consistency across regions.

Oversee the full development cycle, from gathering requirements to testing and implementation.

Collaborate with teams across the business to understand priorities and deliver tailored solutions.

Manage change requests and development pipelines, ensuring effective prioritisation.

Maintain clear technical documentation and provide user support where needed.

Mentor and manage junior developers, supporting their career growth and monitoring performance.

Identify and implement automation and optimisation opportunities within actuarial workflows.

Participate in wider business initiatives and contribute to strategic objectives beyond day-to-day deliverables.
Skills & Experience:

Qualified actuary (or equivalent) with at least five years' experience in life insurance or reinsurance.

Strong actuarial modelling background with experience in platforms such as MoSes, RiskAgility FM, Tyche, or similar.

Proficient in coding languages such as Python, C++, or VBA, with advanced Excel skills.

Solid understanding of life insurance products, e.g., protection, critical illness, income protection, and annuities/longevity.

Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage projects, coach colleagues, and balance multiple priorities.

Track record of improving processes and delivering systems enhancements.

Familiarity with Agile or other structured development methods is advantageous.
