Staff Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Lead Architecture and Strategy: Define and evolve the architecture for complex, cloud-native systems that support our investment operations.
  • Shape Engineering Practices: Establish standards for design, testing, observability, and CI/CD across multiple teams.
  • Drive Innovation: Identify and introduce new tools, frameworks, and AI-driven approaches that improve developer efficiency and data insights, collaborating closely with business & product stakeholders.
  • Mentor and Grow Talent: Coach engineers at all levels, cultivating technical depth, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Deliver Measurable Impact: Align technology initiatives to business objectives, using OKRs to measure progress and outcomes.
  • Champion Reliability and Security: Ensure systems are built for resilience, performance, and compliance, and ensure they are well supported.
  • Influence Talent Decisions: Play a key role in recruiting and retaining top engineering talent through technical leadership and cultural alignment.
Who We Are Looking For
  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, exhibiting technical leadership across complex, distributed systems.
  • Proven success designing and scaling cloud-based platforms (AWS experience strongly preferred).
  • Expertise in one or more object oriented languages (Python, Java, C++, etc) and strong familiarity with modern front-end frameworks such as React.
  • Solid understanding of database technologies (SQL & NoSQL), with experience in optimizing data models, caching, and performance.
  • Proficient in leveraging AI tools within the developer workflow to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Effective communicator who can connect technical vision to business goals.
  • Experienced mentor who elevates the skills and judgment of others.
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for finance and investment technology.
  • Strategic thinker who values simplicity, automation, and measurable results.
  • Proven record of ownership, able to deliver in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment, with exceptional attention to detail.
