Technical Lead - Cloud & Engineering - Manchester Hybrid Working

We're seeking a Technical Lead based Manchester to drive the design and delivery of secure, scalable cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure. In this role, you will lead development efforts, elevate engineering standards, and guide a high-performing team building platforms that support advanced digital underwriting and insurance capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and build of robust, high-performance services for underwriting, claims, and risk-modelling use cases.
  • Write clean, maintainable TypeScript code and champion best practices across projects.
  • Architect, implement, and optimize Azure-based solutions, with strong focus on Containers and App Services/Functions.
  • Use Databricks for data modelling, transformation, and advanced analytics.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps for seamless, reliable deployments.
  • Apply cloud security best practices and optimize Azure environments for cost, performance, and compliance.
  • Mentor developers, conduct code reviews, and foster a culture of technical excellence.
  • Lead design workshops and partner with stakeholders across product, data, architecture, and business teams.
  • Use domain knowledge in insurance processes to shape efficient, data-driven solutions.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience leading complex software development projects.
  • Advanced TypeScript skills and strong containerization experience (AKS).
  • Hands-on expertise across Azure compute, storage, networking, and security.
  • Exposure to Databricks, ETL, and analytics workflows.
  • Strong leadership abilities: mentoring, code review, and collaborative solution-design.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
