Job Opportunity: Unified Communications Engineer - Contract Position

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Unified Communications Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting our unified communications (UC) infrastructure. This role requires expertise in Cisco and Microsoft UC technologies, including Cisco UCM, Cisco Unity Connection, Cisco Voice Gateways and CUBEs, Genesys, as well as Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Teams Rooms. The Senior UC Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of our communication systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Architecture:

- Support the design, deployment, and optimization of unified communications solutions across the organization.

- Develop and document UC architecture, including network diagrams, configuration settings, and standard operating procedures.

- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance the UC infrastructure.

Implementation & Integration:

- Implement and configure Cisco UCM (Unified Communications Manager), Cisco Unity Connection, and Cisco Voice Gateways/CUBEs.

- Integrate Microsoft Teams with existing Cisco UC systems to ensure seamless communication across platforms.

-Implement and manage Microsoft Teams Rooms, ensuring proper configuration and performance.

Operations & Support:

- Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for UC systems, addressing escalated issues from the IT support team.

- Monitor and manage the performance and availability of UC systems, ensuring minimal downtime.

- Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for critical UC components.

Collaboration & Training:

- Collaborate with IT security, network, and infrastructure teams to ensure UC systems align with organizational standards and security protocols.

- Provide mentorship and training to junior engineers and IT support staff on UC technologies and best practices.

- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all UC systems and processes.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management:

- Work closely with vendors to manage UC-related projects and support cases.

- Engage with stakeholders across the organization to understand communication needs and deliver tailored UC solutions.

Education:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.

Experience:

- 5+ years of experience in unified communications, with a focus on Cisco and Microsoft technologies.

- Proven experience in designing, deploying, and managing Cisco UCM, Cisco Unity Connection, and Cisco Voice Gateways/CUBEs.

- Strong experience with Microsoft Teams, including Teams Rooms deployment and management.

Certifications (Preferred):

- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Collaboration or equivalent.

- Microsoft Certified: Teams Administrator Associate or equivalent.

Technical Skills:

- Deep understanding of VoIP protocols, SIP, H.323, MGCP, and QoS.

- Strong knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications architecture and Microsoft Teams integration.

- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Teams Rooms

- Familiarity with network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, routers, and switches.

Soft Skills:

- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive and analytical approach.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.

- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
