Most engineering education still teaches people how systems used to be built. This role is about teaching how they’re built now — and where they’re going next.
A high-growth technology organisation is building a next-generation Technology & AI Institute, designed to produce engineers who can operate in modern, cloud-native, AI-augmented environments from day one. They’re now hiring a Cloud & Engineering Instructor to join a small, high-impact group redefining how software engineering, DevOps, and platform thinking are taught.
This isn’t a traditional instructor role. It’s closer to being a production-grade engineer who teaches, helping to translate real-world engineering practices into hands-on, practical learning that actually sticks.
You’ll deliver applied training across modern software engineering, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps — covering everything from building scalable applications to deploying and operating them in cloud-native environments.
But the real differentiator is the AI layer. This organisation is embedding AI-assisted development and AIOps as standard practice, not as a bolt-on. That means teaching engineers how to build, deploy, and operate systems in a world where LLMs, automation, and intelligent tooling are part of the workflow — not separate from it.
The scope of what you’ll be working across is broad and genuinely reflective of modern engineering:
- Cloud platforms and architecture (AWS/Azure), including networking, security, and scalability
- CI/CD pipelines and release engineering, with an emphasis on automation and reliability
- Infrastructure as code and platform engineering principles
- Containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Observability, monitoring, and incident response in production systems
- AI-augmented development workflows and AIOps practices
Alongside delivery, you’ll play a key role in evolving how this is taught — embedding AI into engineering workflows, integrating modern tooling, and ensuring the curriculum keeps pace with how high-performing teams actually operate.
The environment is fast-paced and highly collaborative. Content is continuously refined, expectations are high, and the focus is always on producing engineers who can step into real-world environments and contribute immediately.
What makes this opportunity stand out:
- Be part of a pioneering group redefining engineering education in the age of AI
- Directly shape how cloud, DevOps, and platform engineering are taught at scale
- Work across the full engineering lifecycle, not a narrow slice of it
- Help build engineers who are AI-native from day one, not retrofitted later
- Operate in an environment that values practical impact over theoretical delivery
They’re looking for individuals with strong engineering credibility — people who have built and operated real systems in cloud environments — and who can translate that experience into clear, practical learning. You don’t need to come from a traditional teaching background, but you do need the ability to communicate, guide, and challenge others effectively.
If you’ve worked in modern engineering environments and have strong views on how things should be built — and you’re motivated by the idea of shaping that thinking at scale — this is a rare chance to step into something genuinely formative.
You won’t just be teaching DevOps or cloud. You’ll be helping define what a modern, AI-augmented engineer looks like.
