Technical Curriculum Designer - Cloud, DevOps & AI

Technical Curriculum Designer

Cloud, Software Engineering & AI

London | 4 days onsite | Up to £80,000 + benefits

Omnis is partnering with an established UK technology consultancy that is redesigning how early-career engineers are trained before moving into enterprise client environments.

We are looking for a Technical Learning Experience Designer / Technical Curriculum Designer who can design practical, hands-on learning programmes across cloud engineering, software engineering, DevOps and AI-assisted development.

The right person will likely have started their career in, or worked closely with, software engineering, cloud, DevOps, platform engineering or technical education. You do not need to be a current hands-on engineer, but you will need enough technical depth to design credible engineering learning and work confidently with technical SMEs.

The role will involve:

  • Designing technical learning journeys for early-career cloud and software engineers
  • Turning complex engineering topics into clear modules, labs, workshops and assessments
  • Creating project-based learning, pair-programming labs, hackathon-style sprints and simulation-driven assessments
  • Designing practical cloud sandbox environments and infrastructure-as-code labs
  • Building formative, summative, competency-based and portfolio-based assessments
  • Working closely with technical instructors and engineering SMEs
  • Improving existing curriculum across cloud, software engineering, DevOps and AI
  • Using learning analytics and learner feedback to improve content over time
  • Creating multi-modal content across visual, written, audio, video and interactive formats

The content will cover areas such as:

  • Cloud engineering across AWS, Azure and/or GCP
  • Software engineering principles and development workflows
  • DevOps, CI/CD and infrastructure as code
  • Containers, Kubernetes and platform engineering concepts
  • Testing, observability and engineering best practice
  • AI-assisted software development using tools such as Copilot, Cursor, Claude, Claude Code and ChatGPT
  • AI-enabled learning, including content generation, automated assessments, learner analytics and AI tutoring

You’ll need:

  • Experience designing technical curriculum, learning journeys or engineering training programmes
  • A background or strong working knowledge across software engineering, cloud, DevOps, SRE or platform engineering
  • Strong instructional design knowledge, ideally including ADDIE, SAM, Bloom’s Taxonomy, Merrill’s or similar
  • Experience creating practical labs, projects, coding exercises, workshops or assessments
  • Confidence working with engineering SMEs and technical instructors
  • Familiarity with LMS/LXP platforms and e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise or Camtasia
  • Understanding of accessibility, inclusive learning and WCAG standards
  • Strong communication skills and a genuine interest in developing future engineers
  • Ability to work 4 days per week from a London office

This could suit someone from a technical academy, coding bootcamp, graduate engineering programme, edtech provider, consultancy learning team, internal engineering enablement function or technical curriculum design background.

Salary is up to £80,000, depending on experience.
