Robotic Service Engineer – UK Field Service
Up to £60,000 + Company Vehicle | UK-Wide Field-Based
Our client, a leading name in industrial robotics and automation, is seeking an experienced and motivated Robotic Service Engineer to support customers across the UK with the servicing, maintenance, fault finding, and repair of industrial robotic systems. You'll work primarily with ABB, FANUC, and KUKA robotic equipment across a wide range of industries.
This is a field-based role involving nationwide travel, customer site support, emergency breakdown response, preventative maintenance, and robot system optimisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on industrial robotic systems and associated automation equipment
- Diagnose and resolve robot breakdowns, electrical faults, mechanical issues, and programming-related problems
- Provide emergency breakdown support to minimise customer downtime
- Service and maintain ABB, FANUC, and KUKA robotic systems
- Support commissioning and re-commissioning following repairs or upgrades
- Perform robot mastering, calibration, backups, and system recovery
- Troubleshoot robot controllers, servo systems, safety circuits, fieldbus networks, and end-of-arm tooling
- Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
- Produce accurate service reports and maintenance documentation
- Participate in an on-call rota for out-of-hours breakdown support where required
What You'll Need
- Proven experience working with industrial robots in a service, maintenance, or automation engineering role
- Strong working knowledge of ABB, FANUC, and KUKA robots and controllers
- Ability to diagnose electrical, mechanical, and software-related faults
- Good understanding of industrial automation systems and manufacturing environments
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively, including occasional overnight stays
Desirable
- Experience with PLC systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Mitsubishi)
- HNC/HND or apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or Automation Engineering
- Robot programming and commissioning experience
