ICT / Cyber Security Officer

If you have a keen interest in Cyber Security and would like to develop your skills and knowledge further in this area, then we have a rare opportunity for you to join an experienced technical services team as the ICT Security / Cybersecurity Officer protecting our client and its data from cyber security threats.

Using your vast knowledge and experience, you will ensure both the on premise and cloud-based ICT networks are secure, employing new technologies to mitigate ongoing risks. You will also be the technical lead on Public Services Network compliance and Payment Card Industry (PCI) data security standard legislation.

You will develop and maintain the disaster recovery strategy, multi-platform server administration tasks, Internet/Network security procedures to always ensure the integrity of systems and data. You will also maintain and support the BCKLWN remote working environment.

You will have comprehensive working knowledge in ICT including of Windows based operating systems; modern PC architecture; maintaining IT Security and Networks, Data and Internet Security. You will have excellent diagnostics skills, with the ability to process data with the highest levels of accuracy, handling confidential data sensitively. You will be able to communicate clearly and concisely, with excellent customer services skills to liaise with all levels across the organisation.

Duties

  • Develop and administer a suite of security tools and systems to prevent threats and ensure data integrity including, but not limited to, Antivirus, Web and Email Filtering, Firewalls and Vulnerability Scanning.
  • Monitor and provide timely response to new cybersecurity threats becoming part of an incident response team where necessary.
  • Report to the Technical Services Manager but also work closely with the Technical Architecture Manager and the Network Manager on communications, networking and security matters, and work with the wider ICT teams to ensure security standards across ICT are adhered to, including End User Compute, Infrastructure and Development.
  • Provide high level advice on developing and maintaining a compliant ICT security environment for PSN/PCI/Data Protection.
  • Produce regular security KPIs and provide ad-hoc IT security reports to ICT Management.
  • Stay up to date with the latest cybersecurity attack vectors and advancements in security technology, ensuring that cyber security training is up to date for ICT staff and end users.
  • Manage and maintain the IT security certificates and DR testing plan.
  • Manage suppliers to ensure that problems are resolved in the most efficient and effective way.
  • Take responsibility for allocated Service Desk calls and ensure these are closed within SLA.
  • Deal with sensitive requests relating to investigations over potential staff misconduct.

Experience

You will ideally have previous experience of working within a Local Authority / Public Sector organisation.

Knowledge

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Windows based operating systems (essential)
  • A good standard of education i.e. 'A’ level or equivalent (essential)
  • A higher-level Information and Communications Technology related qualification (essential).
  • 5 years’ practical training and experience in Information and Communications Technology, particularly in modern PC architecture (essential).
  • 2 years practical experience in maintaining IT Security (essential)
  • 2 Years practical experience in Networks, Data and Internet Security (essential)
  • A Cybersecurity related qualification (desirable)
  • Knowledge of certificates and their management across Windows and Linux (desirable).
