Contract LLM Engineer – £450/day – Hybrid (London) Location: Hybrid – 2 days/week in Central London Day Rate: £450/day (Outside IR35) Duration: 3–6 months Start Date: August (flexible)?? About the Role We’re looking for a contract LLM Engineer to support the development of GenAI-powered tools for document understanding, summarisation, and intelligent search. You’ll be working with a small, agile team focused on deploying open-source models into production environments.?? Key Responsibilities

• Fine-tune and evaluate LLMs for domain-specific tasks
• Build and optimise RAG pipelines using vector databases
• Develop prompt engineering strategies and orchestration flows
• Integrate models into backend services via APIs
• Implement evaluation frameworks for response quality and reliability

 Essential Skills

• Strong Python skills and experience with Hugging Face Transformers
• Familiarity with LLM fine-tuning and inference optimisation
• Experience with vector search and embeddings (e.g. FAISS, Pinecone)
• Understanding of prompt engineering and few-shot learning
• Ability to work independently in a hybrid, agile environment

 Nice to Have

• Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar orchestration tools
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) and containerisation (Docker)
• Familiarity with NLP evaluation metrics and safety frameworks
