Their platform is built on a robust .NET ecosystem and is scaling rapidly—now they need a?Data Services Lead to take full ownership of the data layer and help drive that growth. This is a hybrid role and would be expected to be in the office in Derby 2 / 3 days per week, this is mandatory.This is a hands-on, backend-focused role where you’ll take full ownership of the data layer as a Data Services Lead—from architecture and performance to compliance and BI. What You’ll Be Doing as a Data Services Lead:
- Designing and optimising schemas, stored procedures, and SQL queries
- Managing distributed databases across multiple regions
- Setting up and configuring Azure SQL and Azure Storage
- Monitoring live systems and resolving performance issues (deadlocks, spikes, etc.)
- Leading compliance workflows and documentation in a regulated environment
- Supporting BI delivery (Power BI experience helpful, but this isn’t a BI role)
- Strong experience in MSSQL, data architecture, and engineering
- Deep understanding of query optimisation and execution plans
- Experience with Azure cloud services and .NET/Entity Framework
- Comfortable working in regulated environments (e.g., GDPR)
- Familiarity with ETL processes, semantic models, and Power BI/DAX
- Someone who’s backend-focused—not just reporting, but building the engine
