Java Engineer - Newcastle

£35,000 - £45,000 | 12-Month FTC Newcastle | (Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite) | Permanent Opportunity Following Initial Contract | SC Eligibility Required

We're looking for a talented Java Engineer to join a leading technology consultancy delivering large-scale digital transformation programmes for high-profile clients.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on modern cloud-native applications, enterprise integrations and microservices architectures using the latest Java technologies within collaborative Agile engineering teams.

The position is offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract, with a strong intention to move successful candidates into a permanent position following the initial term.

What You'll Be Doing

• Developing Java-based enterprise applications and microservices.
• Building secure, scalable solutions using Java (JDK 11+) and Spring Boot.
• Working on AWS-hosted cloud solutions.
• Developing and consuming REST APIs.
• Contributing to modern Microservices architectures.
• Working closely with engineering, DevOps, testing and architecture teams.
• Participating in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives.
• Following engineering best practices including CI/CD, TDD and automated testing.

• Commercial Java development experience.

Security Clearance Requirement
Applicants must be eligible for UK SC Clearance.
This means you must typically:

• Be a British Citizen, hold Settled Status, or Indefinite Leave to Remain.
• Have lived continuously in the UK for the last 5 years.
• Have no periods of 30 days or longer spent outside the UK during that time.
