Network Security Architect

We’re working with a public-sector consultancy looking for an SC-Cleared Network Security Architect to support secure network design across government clients. This role suits someone with strong hands-on networking experience who can also provide clear security design and guidance.Key Responsibilities

• Design secure network solutions for public-sector systems (on-prem, cloud, hybrid).
• Work with Cisco and/or Fortinet technologies to design and review secure configurations.
• Support firewall, routing, switching, VPN and segmentation design.
• Advise on network risks, best practice, and secure-by-design principles.
• Contribute to architecture documents, diagrams, and technical reviews.
• Work closely with security, infrastructure and delivery teams.

Essential Skills

• Active SC clearance.
• Strong background in network security.
• Experience with Cisco networking and security (e.g., ASA/Firepower, ISE, Catalyst switches, routers).
• Experience with Fortinet firewalls (FortiGate) or similar tools.
• Good knowledge of secure network design:
  • Firewalls
  • VPN
  • Segmentation
  • IDS/IPS
  • Boundary security
• Ability to produce simple, clear architecture designs and security recommendations.
• Confident working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Experience working in government, defence, or large public-sector programmes.
• Knowledge of Azure or AWS network security.
• Certifications like CCNP Security, CCIE, Fortinet NSE, CISSP.
