We're looking for an experienced SRE Security Engineer to join a high-profile UK Central Government programme, playing a critical role in securing enterprise systems, applications, platforms and infrastructure against evolving cyber threats. This is an excellent opportunity for a security professional with strong Security Architecture and Splunk expertise to work on mission-critical environments, helping to design, implement and continuously improve security controls across complex enterprise landscapes.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to security strategy, and provide technical leadership in a security-focused engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and implement secure enterprise architectures and security controls
- Protect systems, applications, data, infrastructure and business processes from cyber threats
- Conduct security assessments, audits and vulnerability reviews
- Develop and maintain security monitoring and detection capabilities using Splunk
- Investigate security events and provide recommendations for remediation
- Work closely with engineering, operations and architecture teams to embed security-by-design principles
- Support platform security initiatives across cloud and on-premises environments
- Contribute to technical discussions and provide solutions to complex security challenges
- Stay up to date with emerging threats, vulnerabilities and security technologies
Advanced experience in Security Engineering and Security Architecture
Strong knowledge of:
- Enterprise Security Architecture (ESA)
- Security Architecture Design
- Splunk Enterprise/Splunk Enterprise Security
- Threat Detection and Monitoring
- Security Risk Assessment
- Vulnerability Management
- Security Controls and Governance
Ability to work independently and operate as a Subject Matter Expert (SME)

- Platform Security expertise
- Cloud Security (AWS, Azure or GCP)
- SIEM and Security Operations Centre (SOC) experience
- DevSecOps practices
