About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Senior Business Analyst to join a growing delivery team supporting complex business and technology transformation initiatives. This role will play a critical part in bridging the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that business needs are translated into clear, high-quality requirements and effective solution designs.
The successful candidate will bring strong analytical capability, excellent stakeholder management skills, and proven experience delivering large-scale change initiatives within Agile and/or Waterfall environments. In addition, they will provide guidance and mentorship to other Business Analysts, driving quality and consistency across analysis activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the elicitation, analysis, documentation, validation, and management of business and system requirements.
- Work independently to understand complex business challenges and translate business needs into high-quality functional and non-functional requirements.
- Produce and maintain key business analysis artefacts, including:
- User stories and acceptance criteria
- Business and functional requirements
- Process maps and workflow diagrams
- Business rules and data specifications
- Impact assessments and solution documentation
- Apply structured analysis and design techniques, including UML, BPMN, process modelling, and business impact assessments.
- Conduct detailed analysis of business processes, data, and operational requirements to support decision-making and solution design.
- Facilitate workshops and engage with senior stakeholders across business and technology functions to achieve alignment and consensus.
- Lead business impact assessments, identifying risks, dependencies, and organisational impacts associated with proposed changes.
- Support Agile delivery teams through backlog creation, refinement, prioritisation, and sprint planning activities.
- Ensure requirements are aligned to business value, delivery priorities, and strategic objectives.
- Provide guidance throughout testing phases, including requirement clarification, defect triage, and resolution activities.
- Mentor and coach junior Business Analysts, supporting capability development and quality assurance of analysis outputs.
- Drive continuous improvement of business analysis practices, standards, and methodologies.
- Extensive experience working as a Business Analyst within complex business and technology transformation programmes.
- Strong expertise in requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, and stakeholder management.
- Proven experience producing high-quality business analysis artefacts, including user stories, requirements documentation, process models, and business rules.
- Experience using modelling techniques such as UML, BPMN, and business process mapping.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience using data to support recommendations and decision-making.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to influence and challenge senior leaders constructively.
- Experience conducting business impact assessments and managing change impacts, risks, and dependencies.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring, coaching, or leading other Business Analysts.
- Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and experience working within Waterfall environments where required.
- Experience supporting testing activities, defect management, and quality assurance processes.
- Proficiency with JIRA, Confluence, Visio, and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working within large-scale technology transformation programmes.
- Relevant Business Analysis qualifications (BCS, IIBA, CBAP, PMI-PBA or equivalent).
- Experience working within consulting, technology, or enterprise delivery environments.
- Candidates are strongly preferred to be available to work on-site from day one.
- Where relocation is required, candidates should be prepared to relocate ASAP and ideally within the first one to two months of employment.
- Relocation support of up to £1,500 is available
