Senior Ruby Engineer

Job Title: Senior Ruby Developer (Contract – 6 Months) Location: Remote (UK/EU preferred)Contract Type: Full-time, 6-month contract Start Date: ASAP Rate: Competitive (depending on experience)I'm on the lookout for a Senior Ruby Developer to join my client on a 6-month contract, with the potential to step into a technical lead role. You’ll be working on a high-impact project, contributing to backend development and helping shape the technical direction of the product.This is a hands-on role where you’ll collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and DevOps specialists. You’ll be expected to take ownership of features, mentor junior developers, and bring best practices to the table.Key Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to backend development using Ruby on Rails
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and maintainable solutions
• Participate in architectural decisions and code reviews
• Support CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure deployments
• Ensure high code quality and performance across the system
• Help guide the team with technical leadership and mentoring

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with Ruby/Rails in production environments
• Exposure to DevOps practices (CI/CD, Docker, AWS, Terraform, etc.)
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, background jobs, and database optimization
• Experience working in agile teams and mentoring developers
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and take initiative

Nice to Have

• Experience with frontend technologies (React, Vue)
• Prior experience in a lead or senior role
• Familiarity with microservices architecture
