Radio Frequency Design Engineer

Why you’d want this role

Work on cutting‐edge tech: Robotics, autonomous drones, radar systems, advanced sensors, and next‐gen comms

True variety: Every project is different, no repetitive product cycles

Real engineering: Take ideas from concept to hardware running in the lab

High‐impact environment: Small, expert team where your work directly shapes real systems

Technical depth: RF, microwave, analogue, simulation, test, and measurement

Growth & mastery: Access to state‐of‐the‐art RF labs and senior subject‐matter experts

Supportive culture: Friendly, collaborative, and built for engineers who love learning

The Role

You’ll design, build, test, and deliver RF‐based systems used across robotics, sensing, defence, and autonomous platforms.

What you’ll work on:

  • RF, microwave, and analogue circuit design & simulation
  • Radio, radar, and sensor system architectures
  • RF amplifiers, filters, mixers, and frequency synthesisers
  • Prototype development, verification, and validation
  • mmWave experimentation and characterisation
  • Practical hands‐on lab work using spectrum/network analysers and anechoic chambers
  • Full lifecycle engineering — from concept to working hardware
  • You’ll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineers and translate complex technical principles into clear explanations for non‐technical stakeholders.

What we’re looking for

Essential:

  • Strong MEng (or equivalent) in Electronic Engineering or related field
  • 6+ years’ experience designing RF‐based circuits (radios, radar, high‐frequency systems)
  • Proven track record taking products/modules from concept to verification
  • Strong microwave, RF, and analogue design & simulation skills
  • Experience with RF amplifier, filter, and frequency synthesiser design

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of radio and/or radar system design
  • Team leadership or line‐management experience
  • Digital circuit design skills
  • Experience working at mmWave frequencies

Package & Benefits

  • £62,000 - £87,000 DOE
  • Training and professional development tailored to your growth
  • Clear progression pathways: technical, commercial, or managerial
  • Supportive environment with access to expert engineering mentors
  • Regular on‐site and off‐site socials
  • Modern facilities with fully equipped RF & electronics laboratories

Location & Culture

  • Based in a well‐connected location with excellent transport links
  • Friendly, collaborative engineering culture
  • Work spans sectors including healthcare, IoT, defence, security, and automotive
