Test Engineer – High‐Assurance Software (Defence & Cyber)

Location: Manchester / Cheltenham (travel required)

Clearance: Active UK Enhanced DV (non‐MOD) required

Overview:

An opportunity to join a specialist Defence & Cyber Security organisation working on mission‐critical systems. This role focuses on ensuring high‐assurance software quality within cross‐functional engineering teams, contributing to both testing strategy and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and execute manual and automated tests across complex systems
• Develop and maintain test automation frameworks
• Perform exploratory and risk‐based testing
• Collaborate with engineers to improve testability and quality
• Contribute to continuous improvement of testing tools, frameworks, and practices

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong foundation in software testing principles
• Programming/scripting in Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript
• Experience testing modern web applications (e.g. Angular, React, Vue)
• Exposure to automation tools (e.g. Cypress, Cucumber, Robot Framework)
• Experience building or evolving test frameworks

Desirable Experience:

• Cloud & containerisation: AWS, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes
• Modern tech stacks: MERN, Elasticsearch, Neo4J

Security & Eligibility:

• UK Citizen with 10+ years UK residency
• Must hold active Enhanced DV clearance (non‐MOD)
• Willingness to travel to secure client sites
