Director of Artificial Intelligence

Next-Generation Artificial Intelligence Initiative | Scientists & Research Leaders

The working arrangement can be based in your home country (remote collaboration) or in China, depending on your preference and transition planning.

We are building a long-term technical platform focused on artificial intelligence, advanced computing, and next-generation intelligent systems. We are looking to connect with experienced scientists, engineers, and research leaders who care about how frontier AI moves from research capability to real-world deployment.

This initiative is part of a nationally supported innovation programme aimed at strengthening capabilities in AI research, advanced engineering, and large-scale intelligent technology infrastructure.

The focus is not only on short-term output, but on building the scientific and engineering foundations required for AI systems to scale reliably and create lasting impact.

Who this is for

You are likely a strong fit if you:

  • Hold a PhD from a leading university
  • Graduated in 2022 or earlier
  • Have several years of post-PhD research or industry experience

And have worked in areas such as:

Core AI Research

  • Large language models and foundation models
  • Multimodal learning
  • Reinforcement learning
  • Generative models
  • AI for scientific discovery
  • Machine learning theory, optimization, or scalable training

AI Systems & Deployment

  • Distributed training systems and model infrastructure
  • High-performance computing and system optimization
  • Data, evaluation, and alignment systems
  • Inference, deployment, and production-scale AI platforms
  • AI safety, robustness, and trustworthy systems

Embodied Intelligence & Applications

  • Robotics and embodied AI
  • Perception, planning, and control
  • Human-AI interaction
  • AI applications in science, manufacturing, healthcare, finance, or other complex environments

What makes this different

This is not a narrowly defined role with a fixed job description.

It is designed for experienced scientists and engineers who want to work on long-horizon technical challenges at the intersection of AI research, advanced engineering, and strategic technology development.

What the platform offers

  • Ownership of important research directions or technical modules
  • The opportunity to shape platform strategy, architecture, and validation pathways
  • Long-term institutional backing
  • Cross-functional collaboration across research, engineering, and industry
  • A path focused on platform capability and long-term impact

How to engage

If you are currently working in artificial intelligence, machine learning, embodied intelligence, AI systems, or adjacent deep-tech domains — and are open to exploring long-term technical opportunities — we would be glad to connect.

The programme supports flexible engagement models, including remote collaboration, project-based involvement, and longer-term transitions depending on individual preferences.
