Junior C# Engineer – Front Office Platform

Junior C# Engineer – Front Office Platform (London)

We’re working with a high-performing investment firm building and evolving a core platform used directly by traders and portfolio managers across the business.

This isn’t a typical junior backend role. It’s a position that gives you immediate exposure to front office users, with a clear pathway into more commercial or trading-facing roles over time.

Why this role stands out

  • Direct front office exposure from day one
  • You’ll be working on systems used daily by traders and PMs, not internal tooling that sits in the background
  • Clear progression beyond pure engineering
  • This team has a proven track record of people moving into more commercial and trading-facing roles over time
  • High-impact work early in your career
  • You’ll see how systems, data, and tooling directly influence decision-making and outcomes
  • Steeper learning curve than most junior roles
  • Small team, strong engineers, and close interaction with end users

What you’ll be doing

  • Building and maintaining backend systems that support trading and research workflows
  • Working closely with traders and PMs to understand requirements and deliver solutions
  • Contributing to a centralised platform used across multiple teams
  • Supporting and improving existing systems, including troubleshooting and user interaction
  • Gradually taking on more ownership as your understanding of the platform and domain grows

Tech environment

  • C# / .NET (core focus)
  • Strong emphasis on computer science fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, OOP)

What they’re looking for

  • 1–2 years commercial experience with C# / .NET
  • Strong academic background in Computer Science (or closely related discipline)
  • Solid grounding in core engineering fundamentals
  • Curious, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Interested in understanding how technology is used in real-world decision making

Important to note

This role includes a meaningful support component initially, working closely with users, troubleshooting issues, and understanding how the platform is used day-to-day.

It’s best suited to someone who values:

  • Front office exposure
  • Learning how systems are used in practice
  • A longer-term pathway into more commercial or trading-aligned roles
