Group Head of Data Architecture

GROUP HEAD OF DATA ARCHITECTURE

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new 'Greenfield' build of a Group Data Office for FTSE 100 organisation.

This is a really big, strategic and important role that reports directly to the Group CDO along five newly appointed 'Heads of'.

It will suit someone with a strong Enterprise Data Architecture background, and who experience of working across Group structures (multi-brand, parent company, etc) with experience of figuring out some meaty architecture challenges at a Group level.

Role Purpose

Responsible for defining the Group’s North Star for Data architecture, ensuring technical consistency, scalability and future readiness. This individual will act as the strategic architect to align data platforms with customer-centric goals and drive the longer term opportunities to support convergence across the Group’s multi brand, multi geography architectural landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a senior advisor across Enterprise Architecture, applying key expertise to provide support across key Architect teams, bringing thought leadership across the organisation
• Define Group-wide standards and the long-term roadmap to unify disparate entity architectures into a cohesive, scalable ecosystem
• Engineer the architectural blueprints required to enable a seamless 360 Customer view and cross business line Data integration
• Set the Guardrails for modern Data platforms to accelerate innovation while eliminating technical debt and duplication
• Oversee and facilitate discussion on Group wide tool selection, via constructs such as the Architecture forum, to maximise investment impact and ensure cross-entity reusability.

• Data Architecture recognised as a trusted partner and enabler of value, not a bottleneck.

Line Management & Budget Responsibility

• You will manage through managers, in a medium sized function.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required

• Significant senior-level experience in Data Architecture, enterprise Architecture, or closely related disciplines.
• Proven track record of defining and governing data Architecture at scale in complex organisations.
• Deep understanding of modern data platforms, data modelling, integration patterns, and cloud-based architectures.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at executive level.
• Good understanding of business processes and data usages to inform optimal solutions
• Strong familiarity across Amazon and Google environment is preferable.

Qualifications required

• Strong understanding / experience in working across Amazon & Google environments is preferable.

Internal / External Relationships

• Partner closely with senior business and technology leaders to ensure data architecture supports current and future business needs.
• Partner with local architects and relevant teams to establish strong working relationships across technical teams and manage key governance / architectural forums to support buying across solutions.
