Technology Product Owner (Full time, Part-time 30+ hours, or Job share) Salary £49,986 - £58,318 (dependent on experience) - Hybrid working

Our Technology Product Owner will play a pivotal role in your product's success. Your role will not only be to help discover and define the requirements we need to ensure our solutions are fit for purpose but also to fully support the engineering teams to ensure the requirements are delivered on time.

You'll have a knack for delivering customer requirements swiftly and to a high standard. You'll be experienced in leading development teams and comfortable with technical concepts and discussions, as well as communicating with business stakeholders, project managers, architects, and data specialists. You'll need to be adept at balancing customer requirements, non-functional requirements, and technical debt.

Your role will involve working closely with the Service Leadership Team to shape the product roadmap, aligning with the product vision and capability/service roadmap. You'll also break down high-level requirements into user stories to build and maintain the development backlogs. We're looking for someone who is fully conversant with Agile delivery methodologies and is confident leading team ceremonies.

As a Product Owner, you will

  • Steer one or more product development teams

  • Provide expert planning and prioritisation, maintaining a focus on customer outcomes within the wider scope of the product vision and roadmap

  • Engage with customers and stakeholders to understand customer needs, and to gather user requirements and feedback

  • Analyse and translate high-level business requirements into user stories with clear value and purpose, and collaborate with Engineers to ensure the development backlogs are refined and prioritised

  • Lead Agile ceremonies including sprint planning and backlog refinement meetings, and contribute to sprint demos

  • Identify improvements to processes to drive effectiveness and efficiency through technology development

  • Regularly engage with stakeholders to ensure expectations are managed, risks and issues are communicated, managed and mitigated and to communicate delivery team progress

What we're looking for

We're looking for an individual that can demonstrate skills and experience in

  • Backlog management and prioritisation, preferably in Azure DevOps

  • Leading efficient and effective meetings

  • Balancing multiple priorities and dealing with ambiguity

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships, collaborating with peers

  • Stakeholder management

  • Clear and concise communication and presentation skills

  • Business analysis, including requirements gathering and producing technical documentation

For this role, we're specifically looking for additional skills and knowledge in:

  • Website and Web Application development

  • Web Usability and Web Accessibility principles

  • Web application performance, security and compliance

  • High-level knowledge of React, TypeScript, Java, Azure cloud services, Azure DevOps

  • Knowledge/understanding of working within a scalable micro-services web application environment.

While a Product Owner Certification and experience with data platforms would be beneficial, they are not essential. We value the right behaviours and passion over ticking every box. Location: We embrace a hybrid working model at OS and understand there is no one size fits all in relation to how we work. We have a fantastic HQ in Southampton, Hampshire where you will be based and required to spend 2-3 days a week at OSHQ.
