Virtualisation Architect

Lead Virtualisation Architect (VMware to OpenShift Migration) | £600-£700 p/day (Inside IR35) | Sheffield (3 days on site) | Starting ASAP | 6 month contract | Banking

A consultancy partner of ours is looking for an experienced Lead Virtualisation Architect o support a large-scale VMware to Red Hat OpenShift migration project for a major banking client. This role requires both deep technical expertise and strong stakeholder engagement skills.

Length: 6 months (very strong possibility of extension)
Rate: £600-£700 p/day (Inside IR35)
Start: ASAP
Location: Sheffield ( 3 days on site min.)

• Lead the design and delivery of virtualisation and containerisation strategies, with a focus on VMware to OpenShift migration.
• Provide technical leadership across infrastructure, networking, and application integration components.
• Collaborate closely with client stakeholders, internal teams, and third-party vendors to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Assess existing environments and recommend scalable, secure, and compliant architecture solutions.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, demonstrating strong consultative and communication skills.

• Minimum 5 years' experience in an architecture or senior infrastructure role.
• Proven expertise in VMware and Red Hat OpenShift environments.
• Strong understanding of network appliances and integration across virtualised and containerised platforms.
• Experience working within a regulated environment (financial services, government, or similar).
• Prior banking experience highly desirable.
• Exceptional consultative and stakeholder management skills - must operate comfortably at a Principal level.
• Ability to work on-site in Sheffield at least three days per week.

Candidates will be required to go through background checks before commencing contract.
