AWS Infrastructure Engineer
AWS Infrastructure Engineer | Hybrid | £70,000-£75,000 About the Role:
We're partnering with an established organisation to hire an AWS Infrastructure Engineer to support and develop their cloud infrastructure. This is a hands-on infrastructure role focused on the design, maintenance, and optimisation of AWS environments, ensuring the platform remains secure, resilient, and highly available.
You'll work closely with infrastructure, security, and technical teams to deliver reliable cloud services, maintain operational excellence, and support ongoing cloud transformation projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage, maintain, and optimise AWS infrastructure across multiple environments.
- Provision and administer core AWS services including EC2, VPC, IAM, RDS, S3, Route 53, ELB, CloudWatch, and KMS.
- Design and implement secure networking solutions including VPCs, Transit Gateway, VPNs, security groups, NACLs, and private connectivity.
- Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to ensure consistent and repeatable deployments.
- Administer and support Windows and Linux cloud servers, ensuring performance, patching, and system availability.
- Monitor infrastructure health, capacity, and performance, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning across the AWS estate.
- Implement and maintain cloud security controls, identity management, encryption, and access policies.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, and platform issues, acting as an escalation point for complex technical incidents.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
- Proven experience in an AWS Infrastructure Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, or Systems Engineer role.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, VPC, IAM, RDS, S3, Route 53, CloudWatch, ELB, and KMS.
- Solid understanding of AWS networking, routing, DNS, VPNs, load balancing, and security architecture.
- Experience administering Windows Server and/or Linux environments in AWS.
- Good knowledge of Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tooling.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure security, backup strategies, disaster recovery, and high availability.
- Experience monitoring and supporting production infrastructure within business-critical environments.
- Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and hybrid cloud connectivity would be advantageous.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator certification desirable.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
