Azure Controls/Audit Specialist

Azure Controls & Audit Specialist | 6 Month Contract (IIR35) | £700 p/day | Hybrid

I am seeking a Controls & Audit Specialist to join our client's Public Cloud Engineering team. This role focuses on risk, governance and regulatory compliance across the firm's Azure cloud environment. With audit requests expected to grow, this position is critical in ensuring a strong control framework, producing high-quality documentation, and supporting regulatory adherence at scale.

Location: Bournemouth (Hybrid)

Contract: 6-months (IIR35)

Rate: £700-740 p/day

Start date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk & Control Management- Provide subject matter expertise in control assessments within Azure, ensuring adherence to regulatory and internal standards.
  • Governance & Compliance- Manage audit and compliance activities, track issues through to resolution, and provide transparency on control effectiveness to senior stakeholders.

  • Frameworks & Standards- Ensure alignment with industry regulations, control frameworks, and engineering best practices.

  • Documentation & Reporting- Produce clear, comprehensive documentation of controls, assessments, and compliance activities to support regulators and audit teams.

  • Collaboration- Build trusted relationships with assessment teams, product groups, and control owners to embed compliance into engineering processes

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in (Azure) cloud services and architecture
  • Strong knowledge of risk, control, and regulatory compliance frameworks within cloud platforms (Azure preferred, but AWS experience also relevant).

  • Demonstrated experience in audit, issue management, and governance in a technology setting.

  • Ability to document control processes, compliance activities, and regulatory responses with clarity and precision.

  • Familiarity with automation tools and Infrastructure as code (IaC)

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to bridge between technical and non-technical teams.

  • Experience working in large, regulated environments (financial services preferred)

  • Knowledge of Engineering standards and best practices
