Control Systems Engineer
Role: Control Systems Engineer Location: Glascoed, Pontypool (Hybrid Working)Contract: 6–12 Months, 37 Hours per Week Hourly Rate: £33 PAYE or £44.40 Umbrella (Inside IR35)Client: BAE Systems Clearance Level: BPSS + SC + ITAR About the Role We are seeking a skilled Control Systems Engineer to join BAE Systems, supporting the development and commissioning of advanced manufacturing processes. You will act as a subject matter expert for defining control system requirements on new machinery and ensuring robust, safe, and compliant technical solutions. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement new manufacturing processes from concept through to commissioning and qualification.
- Define and manage technical requirements for PLC and control systems.
- Implement and validate Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assignments to new machinery.
- Conduct and document Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) in relation to SIL.
- Contribute to FMEA, PFMEA, DFMEA and RCM studies supporting SIL activities.
- Specify, test, and qualify new equipment in line with safety and regulatory standards.
- Modify PLC/HMI/SCADA programs and commission newly installed control systems.
- Provide technical expertise during tendering and project delivery phases.
- Proven experience with PLC systems (ideally TIA and Simatic Manager).
- Strong knowledge of Safety Integrity Levels (SIL) and associated standards.
- Minimum HNC/HND in Electrical, Electronic, Systems Engineering, or equivalent (Essential).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work with suppliers and stakeholders to meet tight deadlines.
