Commercial Lawyer
Our client is seeking a Commercial Contracts Lawyer to join their nationally recognised commercial team, with a particular focus on intellectual property and technology matters, including data and digital. This strategic hire supports growing client demand across key sectors such as retail, technology, sports, healthcare, and financial services, and will play a key role in strengthening the firm’s non-contentious offering.
This role is suitable for a lawyer with 3+ years’ PQE who is looking to develop their expertise within a high-performing, collaborative environment. The position can be based in Glasgow or Edinburgh, with a minimum of three days per week in the office.
Responsibilities
• Draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, including supply, distribution, outsourcing, and IP agreements.
• Support senior lawyers on IP matters, including patent, trade mark, software licensing, R&D, confidentiality, and franchise agreements.
• Assist with technology-related contracts such as software development, licensing, and IT outsourcing.
• Provide supervised advice on consumer law, data protection, and advertising compliance.
• Contribute to the delivery of managed legal services, supporting efficient handling of routine commercial contracts.
• Support major transactions, including brand acquisitions, divestments, and IT procurement projects.
• Build strong relationships with clients and colleagues, while supporting the development of trainees and paralegals.
Requirements
• Qualified commercial lawyer with 3+ years’ PQE, ideally with experience in IP, technology, and complex commercial contracts.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
• Confident communicator with good client-facing experience.
• Commercially minded, organised, and comfortable taking on responsibility.
• Motivated and ambitious, with a clear interest in long-term career progression within a fast-paced team.
