Staff Full Stack Web Developer

Who are we?

Founded in 2014, Oxa is a global leader in autonomous vehicle (AV) technology, dedicated to accelerating Industrial Mobile Autonomy (IMA).

We develop advanced physical AI and robotics technology, anchored around our configurable and explainable self-driving software, Oxa Driver; development toolchain, Oxa Foundry; and fleet management software, Oxa Hub. We utilise hardware blueprints known as Reference Autonomy Designs (RADs) to enable the integration of sensors, compute and drive-by-wire systems into existing vehicles produced by OEMs.

Our solutions automate repetitive industrial driving tasks, such as the towing and carrying of goods in locations like ports, airports and manufacturing facilities, or asset and perimeter monitoring in environments such as solar farms or industrial plants. We’re helping global businesses to address critical challenges like labour shortages and rising operational costs - driving efficiency, productivity, and safety.

Based in Oxford, and with offices in Canada, our engineering team is drawn from the world’s top physical AI specialists and led by originators of the field.

Your Role:

You will be joining the Remote Operations team. This team builds Oxa Hub, the core cloud component of our products, as well as many internal diagnostic and operational tools.

We are building a fleet management system that sits on the bleeding edge of what autonomous vehicles can do in industrial and logistical settings.

We own the full lifecycle of these products: designing intuitive user experiences, building robust and scalable services behind them, and continuously evolving the platform so that a growing fleet, and a growing customer base has a growing product surface and control plane to operate fleets of AVs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical leadership and mentorship across the web engineering team
  • Designing, building, and shipping full stack web applications using Node, TypeScript, and React
  • Architecting scalable front-end and back-end systems that hold up as our platform and fleet grow
  • Owning features end to end, from product discovery and design through to deployment and iteration
  • Implementing feedback and iteration loops informed by real user and operational needs
  • Tackling problems with multiple risks and roadblocks using simple solutions, and developing an understanding of these problems that lets you explain them to others in simple, concise terms
  • Identifying functionality gaps and contributing to the development of fixes
  • Influencing team strategy, goals, and driving adoption of engineering best practices on your team
  • Understanding the business impact of your systems and showing good judgement when making technical trade-offs between your team's short and long-term needs

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Undergraduate level qualification such as a BEng/MEng/MSc, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrable experience taking full stack web applications from initial concept through to successful production launch
  • Strong software engineering skills with deep expertise in common web languages and frameworks especially TypeScript, Node.js, and React.
  • Experience designing and building ergonomic APIs and robust, scalable back-end services
  • Confident and comfortable communication with anyone! This includes the capacity to translate intricate, multi-faceted technical considerations into precise, strategic guidance suitable for both leadership and technical peers
  • A track record of mentoring engineers and raising the engineering bar around you
  • Comfortable prototyping and developing applications using agentic tools such as Claude Code or Gemini

Extra Kudos If You Have:

  • Experience building real-time, data-rich interfaces such as live dashboards or monitoring tools
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and modern CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience working alongside robotics, autonomy, or other complex hardware-driven systems
  • Experience using python to build web services and APIs

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary, benchmarked against the market and reviewed annually
  • Company share programme
  • Hybrid and/or flexible remote working arrangements
  • Core benefits of market leading private healthcare, life assurance, critical illness cover, income protection, alongside a company paid health cash plan (including gym discounts)
  • A salary exchange pension plan
  • 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • A pet-friendly office environment
  • Safe assigned spaces for team members with individual and diverse needs

Our Culture:

We are on a mission to unlock the benefits of self-driving technology to every person and organisation on the planet. We are creating an environment where everyone, from any background, can do their best work which, put simply, is the right thing to do. We hire and nurture those we can learn from, valuing diversity and the innovation that this drives.

We promote an open and inclusive culture that empowers our Oxbots to bring their whole, authentic selves to work every day.

Why become an Oxbot?

Our team of experts in computer science, AI, robotics and machine learning is world-class, and together they’re solving the most exciting and important technological challenges of our times.

Our diverse, multi-cultural crew is guided by a shared vision to bring the myriad benefits of autonomy to our customers and partners. And in a company that celebrates uniqueness as much as skill and experience, we do it with energy, conviction and a healthy dose of excitement, too.

If you are bold, creative and hyper skilled, come and create the future of autonomy with us at Oxa.
