Research Informatics Manager
Job summary
We are recruiting for a Research Informatics Manager on a 12 month secondment / fixed term
You will lead in managing the research informatic reviews of data flows, research databases, research monitoring systems, participant apps across the research portfolio at Oxford Health Foundation Trust.
Working with Oxford University, other NHS Trusts, research networks and the NIHR Clinical Research Network, including commercial study sponsors you will support with study set up, in relation to research data management including system and app security, in accordance with cyber security and NHS IG requirements.
The post holder will have a comprehensive understanding of the research lifecycle, research ethics and regulatory approval process and the research regulatory frameworks including Research Governance Framework and Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP)
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be the primary contact for providing support and guidance in all aspects relating to data protection and cyber security and information governance of research study set up, delivery, and research study data, systems and apps.
Support the Quality Assurance Team with monitoring and auditing for sponsored studies in line with required regulations and governance of research studies and clinical trials.
Review model research study contracts in relation to data protection clauses and support sponsors to meet their obligations with systems and apps.
Being part of an established, highly professional and supportive RI Team and R&D Department, leading on data protection and cyber security of R&D data.

Knowledge Requirements
- Knowledge and experience of research in the NHS
- Ability to plan, manage and deliver complex projects, involving multiple agencies and individuals and a range of tasks

- Experience of working within Good Clinical Practice and adherence to study protocols
- Experience of working to ICH Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
- Knowledge of policy developments in NHS R&D with particular reference to mental and community health care
Technical Expertise and Competence
- Experience with Research Management Systems (preferably StudyLine / Siteline)
- Well-developed computer skills, including experience with running database reports and data-driven web services etc.
- Complex problem-solving skills
- Experience in reviewing scientific and technical documents.
- Knowledge of HRA GDPR related guidance regarding controllers and processors in research.
- Knowledge of ICO basic principles
- Knowledge of the principles of IG Framework particular in relation to research and Section 68, Consent for consent
- Experience with DPIA completion
- Extensive knowledge of ICO basic principles
- Extensive knowledge of DPA 2018 and UK GDPR Extensive knowledge of the IG Framework, particular in relation to research and Section 68, Consent for consent.
Personal Qualities
- Ability to work with clinicians and researchers from a wide variety of professional backgrounds
- Ability to work as part of multi- professional and multi-agency teams.
- Confidence in liaising with all levels of staff including academics and health care professionals/managers at a senior level.
- Ability to communicate novel and complex messages and strategies to senior managers, peers and other staff
