Procurement and Supply Chain Data Analyst
Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and analytical individual to join the Procurement and Supply Chain Systems Team as a Data Analyst.
In this role, you will support the delivery of high-quality data analytics and reporting that enables the Procurement and Supply Chain function to operate efficiently and make informed decisions. You will work closely with colleagues across the Procurement and Supply Chain Teams to analyse procurement and inventory data, develop reports and dashboards, and provide meaningful insights that support cost improvement, compliance, and service performance.
Reporting to the Procurement and Supply Chain Systems and Data Manager, you will play an important role in ensuring procurement data is accurate, reliable, and accessible.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with strong analytical and problem-solving skills who is passionate about using data to support operational improvement and deliver value for the organisation and the patients we serve.
Main duties of the job
Deliver accurate and insightful dashboards and data reports to support operational and strategic needs.
Maintain and support reporting tools and dashboards under the guidance of the Systems and Data Manager.
Ensure high-quality data by conducting validation, cleansing, and audit activities.
Provide first-line analytics and reporting support to the P&SC team.
Contribute to continuous improvement in data analytics and reporting practices.
Provide cross functional support for all Procurement and Supply Chain systems.

Key Responsibilities
Data Analytics & Reporting
- Extract, cleanse, and analyse data from procurement and inventory systems.
- Produce both routine and ad hoc reports using Microsoft Excel.
- Create meaningful, accurate and insightful Power BI Dashboards using large and complex datasets from a variety of sources for use by the Senior Leadership Team.
- Create ad hoc Power BI reports and dashboards for other members of the procurement team to deliver efficiencies in working practices.
- Have an understanding and experience of using SQL and DAX languages and experience of using relational databases, to create custom measures/calculations and derive insights that are not readily available in the existing datasets.
- Data warehousing and database management knowledge/experience.
- Experience of using processing including ETL (extract/transform/load), queries, analysing and joining complex datasets.
- Generate, produce, and distribute reports from all systems as required.
- Maintain and update standard reporting templates in line with departmental KPIs and regulatory needs.
- Support the tracking and communication of procurement performance metrics.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and other MS apps and experience of using macros/scripts, formulas, and Power Query.
- Extracting/cleansing/combining confidential data from multiple sources to report on temporary staffing to NHS England.
- Adapting to shifting demands when reporting criteria change and evolve.
- Managing Procurement Workspace user access and permissions including enabling access to Power BI dashboards.
- Creating Power Automate flows to automate and streamline processes.
- Creating and maintaining Power App apps.
- Sole responsibility for regular uploading of datasets to SharePoint.
Data Quality & Integrity
Perform routine data validation checks to ensure consistency and accuracy of key datasets.
Support data cleansing initiatives and ongoing data quality improvement projects including systems development where applicable.
Maintaining and standardising the Trust catalogue (GHX) including high volume line level vendor swaps
Identify data anomalies or issues and rectify where possible or escalate as needed.
User Support & Collaboration
Provide first-line support to colleagues requesting data insights or assistance with reports.
Training users on systems/applications such as Power BI and Excel, Atamis and GHX.
Consult with procurement and supply chain teams to understand their data and reporting needs.
Assist in documenting reporting procedures and user guidance for recurring reports or analytics tools.
Super user status and/or experience of Power BI, GHX, NEP Oracle, Atamis, PAM, Ingenica Inventory Management, NHSSC and Pagero systems.
Help test and validate data output during system updates or changes.
Team Contribution
- Work collaboratively within the Systems and Data team and across the wider P&SC department.
- Contribute to meetings and team discussions, sharing ideas for improvement.
- Support team colleagues during periods of high demand or absence.
Person Specification
Education
- IT qualifications including Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, or equivalent competency gained at work.
- Degree or certification in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or Health Informatics.
- NHS experience
