Change Consultant
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Location: Hybrid, with 1–2 days per week in our Bristol or Manchester office, plus travel to partner sites as required
The opportunityWe are looking for an Analyst to join our Change practice and support the successful delivery of transformation across our higher education partners.
This role is aimed at someone in the early stages of their career, with a minimum of two years’ relevant experience in change, project support, business analysis or process improvement. It sits at the start of PACT’s Change career path and is ideal for someone with strong potential, hunger to progress, and a proactive approach to self-development.

This is a hands-on, delivery-oriented consulting role for someone who is analytical, organised and people-focused, and who wants to build their career in change and transformation within higher education.
You will work closely with senior colleagues across student records, change, delivery, data and partner teams to support the planning and delivery of people-centred change activity. This will include helping partners prepare for new systems, processes and ways of working through structured analysis, stakeholder engagement, readiness activity, communications and training support.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining analysis, coordination and delivery in a consulting environment, and who is comfortable being both proactive and hands-on. You will support partner-facing work while also contributing to the continued development of PACT’s internal change capability, tools and ways of working.
To support the delivery of effective, practical and people-centred change activity that helps PACT’s partners adopt new systems, processes and ways of working successfully.
- Support the completion of change impact assessments for system, process and organisational changes.
- Document current and future states, identifying implications for staff, students, processes, data flows and operating models.
- Help identify business, user and operational impacts and support the development of proportionate change interventions.
- Translate project and system change into clear and meaningful people impacts.
- Help coordinate readiness assessments to identify capability gaps, risks and support requirements.
- Track and monitor readiness indicators, escalating concerns where needed.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of project change plans, stakeholder maps and engagement logs.
- Help ensure change activity is aligned with wider project and programme plans.
- Support the planning and delivery of workshops, drop-ins and engagement sessions.
- Maintain stakeholder records, actions, feedback and follow-up items.
- Help coordinate activities with change champions, local networks and university teams.
- Build positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across partner environments.
- Draft clear, concise and audience-appropriate communication materials.
- Prepare slide decks, briefing notes, FAQs and staff or student communications.
- Work with training leads and subject matter experts to gather requirements and support the development of training materials.
- Help ensure communications and training activity is timely, joined-up and aligned to programme needs.
- Work alongside project managers, technical teams, business analysts and SMEs to ensure change activity aligns with wider delivery plans.
- Assist in tracking risks, issues and dependencies related to people and process change.
- Provide analysis and documentation to support decision-making, reporting and governance.
- Support the smooth coordination of change activity across multiple workstreams where required.
- Contribute to PACT’s internal methodologies, templates and knowledge base.
- Participate in internal learning and development activity.
- Support process improvement across the Change practice.
- Contribute positively to PACT’s culture, standards and ways of working.

Qualifications
Essential
- Evidence of training, study or strong interest in change management, business analysis or project delivery
Desirable
- Formal change management certification or training, such as PROSCI or APMG
Essential
- Minimum 2-years experience supporting change, project or process improvement activities in a complex environment
- Experience producing documentation such as process maps, impact assessments, communications or workshop materials
- Experience supporting workshops, engagement sessions or training activity
- Experience working with a range of stakeholders and user groups
Desirable
- Experience within higher education
- Experience working on digital transformation or system implementation projects, such as Student Records, ERP or CRM
- Exposure to consultancy environments

- Knowledge of student lifecycle processes or university operations
- Familiarity with student systems from vendors such as Tribal, Technology One, Ellucian or Thesis
