3D Character Artist

  • £30,000 - £60,000 depending on experience + Company Benefits
  • Haverhill, Suffolk

A chance to shape realistic characters for a very different kind of digital experience.

This growing creative technology business is looking for a Character 3D Artist who can create high-quality, realistic 3D characters for conversational avatars and interactive digital experiences.

This is a role for someone who loves the craft. Human anatomy. Form, shape, texture, material definition, sculpting, facial detail, rigging awareness and the constant push to make digital characters feel more believable, expressive and human.

You’ll be working on character assets that sit at the heart of user interaction, so the detail matters. These aren’t background models. They’re the face of the experience.

What you’ll be doing
  • Creating realistic 3D characters that meet the creative direction, technical criteria and milestone deadlines
  • Developing visual concepts and solving artistic challenges across character, facial and avatar work
  • Improving workflows, pipelines and documentation to help the team work smarter
  • Acting as the main point of contact for character outsourcing partners
What you’ll need to bring
  • 3-5 years’ experience creating high-quality 3D character art, ideally for games, realtime, interactive or avatar-based projects
  • A strong portfolio showcasing realistic human character work
  • Excellent understanding of human anatomy, proportions, form and 3D sculpting
  • Strong texturing and material definition skills for skin, hair, clothing and realistic character detail
The technical bits they’d love to see
  • Strong knowledge of industry-standard art authoring software
  • Experience working with realtime engines, ideally Unity
  • Knowledge of character animation setup, rigging, skinning or facial animation pipelines
  • Experience with JIRA, scripting, technical animation or concept art would all be a bonus
The business

They’re building a collaborative, open and positive team where people take ownership of their work and push each other to raise the standard. The work sits at the intersection of character art, technology and human interaction, so they’re looking for someone who is technically curious, receptive to feedback and genuinely excited by the challenge of making digital characters feel real.

If you’re a Character 3D Artist who wants to create realistic avatar work in a growing creative technology business, this could be a very interesting move.
