PMF Partner works directly with startup founders to help them test markets, generate early commercial traction and build repeatable sales processes.

We support early-stage technology companies that have built a strong product but need help understanding how to position it, who to sell it to and how to consistently generate conversations with the right businesses.

Rather than representing one established product in one market, you will work across a small portfolio of two to three startup clients at a time. Each client will have a different product, target market and commercial challenge.

This makes the role more varied and demanding than a traditional SDR position, but it also provides significantly broader exposure to how startups grow.

The Role

We are looking for a confident and commercially curious Sales Development Representative to run outbound calling campaigns on behalf of our startup clients.

Your primary responsibility will be speaking with prospective customers, qualifying interest and booking high-quality meetings for the founders and senior salespeople we support.

PMF Partner will provide the target markets, prospect lists, positioning, campaign strategy and call scripts. Your role will be to execute the outreach consistently, learn each client’s proposition and represent their business professionally in the market.

This is not a role where success is measured purely by the number of calls made.

We care about the quality of the conversations, the relevance of the meetings booked and the information collected from the market.

You will need to understand why prospects are interested, why they are not interested, what systems they currently use and what objections appear repeatedly. These insights will help us improve each client’s messaging, targeting and wider go-to-market strategy.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will:

  • Conduct high-volume, high-quality cold calling on behalf of two to three startup clients.
  • Speak with founders, directors and senior decision-makers across a range of industries.
  • Learn how each client’s product works and communicate its value clearly.
  • Follow structured call scripts while adapting naturally to each conversation.
  • Identify relevant business problems and qualify whether there is a genuine opportunity.
  • Book well-qualified discovery meetings for startup founders and senior salespeople.
  • Research target companies and decision-makers before and during campaigns.
  • Record accurate notes, outcomes and prospect feedback after every meaningful conversation.
  • Keep CRM records and sales reporting information organised and up to date.
  • Follow up with prospects where appropriate to turn initial interest into a meeting.
  • Share recurring objections, market feedback and commercial insights with the PMF Partner team.
  • Manage outreach activity across multiple clients without allowing quality to drop.
  • Contribute ideas for improving scripts, targeting and campaign performance.
What You’ll Learn

This role will give you direct exposure to how early-stage companies find customers, test markets and build their first repeatable sales process.

You will work closely with startup founders and gain an understanding of the commercial decisions involved in building a business, including:

  • Identifying the right market.
  • Defining an ideal customer profile.
  • Testing a value proposition.
  • Learning why customers buy.
  • Recognising weak and strong market signals.
  • Turning cold conversations into qualified sales opportunities.
  • Understanding the difference between activity and genuine commercial traction.

You will also develop one of the most valuable skills in the current market for salespeople: working on the bleeding edge and selling emerging AI and technology solutions into established businesses.

Many of our clients operate across AI, automation, custom software and new technology adoption. You will learn how to explain unfamiliar products in simple commercial language and speak with businesses that may still be working out where AI fits within their operations.

This experience will help you build much more than cold-calling ability. You will develop commercial judgement, market awareness, objection-handling skills and an understanding of how modern technology companies go to market.

Because you will work across different clients and industries, you will gain exposure to more products, markets and business models than you would typically experience in a standard in-house SDR role.

Who We’re Looking For

You may already have experience as an SDR, BDR, telesales executive, recruitment consultant or outbound sales representative.

Previous B2B cold-calling experience is strongly preferred, but we are also open to people with exceptional communication skills, resilience and a genuine desire to build a career in startup sales.

You should be:

  • Confident speaking with senior business decision-makers over the phone.
  • Comfortable making a high number of outbound calls consistently.
  • Able to communicate complex technology in straightforward language.
  • Resilient enough to handle rejection without losing energy or discipline.
  • Curious about how businesses operate and why they make purchasing decisions.
  • Organised enough to work across several clients and campaigns.
  • Able to listen carefully and record commercially useful information.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
  • Coachable and willing to improve through call reviews and feedback.
  • Interested in startups, AI, software and emerging technology.
  • Focused on booking relevant meetings rather than filling calendars with poor-quality opportunities.

We would rather you book fewer meetings with genuinely relevant businesses than generate a large number of meetings that are unlikely to progress.
