POWER BI DEVELOPER – CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY Location: Merseyside (Mostly Remote) Rate: £500 per day Outside IR35 Contract Until: 31 January 2026 Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week ****It is essential for the candidate to have extensive experience and specialist knowledge in Power BI, Capita/MRI and SQL Development**** Are you a Power BI expert with experience in Capita/MRI systems and SQL Development? We’re partnering with a local authority that has an exciting long-term contract for a Power BI Developer who is passionate about driving data-led decisions in Children’s Services and SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).You’ll be at the heart of data transformation—designing and building high-impact dashboards and reports that influence critical service delivery decisions. What You’ll Be Doing:
- Creating interactive Power BI dashboards and reports to monitor SEND performance and support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborating with the SEND Business Analyst, Capita leads, and the SEND Head of Service.
- Translating business needs into powerful visual analytics and actionable insights.
- Integrating and managing data from various sources: Capita, SQL Server, Excel, SharePoint, APIs.
- Ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and security across all reporting outputs.
- Supporting and training end users on how to get the best from Power BI.
- Improving data pipelines and reporting infrastructure in collaboration with IT teams.
- Proven Power BI development experience—dashboards, DAX, data modelling, and automation.
- Deep understanding of Capita/MRI systems, SQL, and preferably Power Apps.
- Background in Children’s Services/SEND or similar local authority environments.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Bonus: Experience with Oracle, ContrOCC, or complex financial databases.
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or equivalent experience.
- Microsoft Power BI Certification (preferred but not essential).
- Experience in financial and performance reporting highly desirable.
