Instructional Designer — Enterprise Technology Courseware (Part-Time, Permanent, Remote)

About the role

PTS is a global leader in enterprise technology and IT infrastructure, and we're looking for an experienced Instructional Designer to join our courseware team on a permanent, part-time basis. You'll design and develop technical training that helps engineers, partners, and customers get the most from complex enterprise products and solutions.

This is a fully remote, part-time role with genuinely flexible hours. It's important to note that while the role is part-time on average, workload can be project-driven — so there will be busier periods where full-time (or close to full-time) hours are needed to hit delivery deadlines, balanced by quieter stretches. We're looking for someone who can flex with the courseware pipeline, and we'll always give as much notice as possible ahead of busier phases.

What you'll do

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality technical courseware — instructor-led, virtual, and self-paced e-learning
  • Work closely with subject matter experts to translate complex enterprise technology into clear, engaging learning
  • Apply sound instructional design principles (e.g. ADDIE, SAM) and adult learning theory to build effective learner outcomes
  • Develop and refine assessments, labs, and hands-on exercises that reflect real-world enterprise scenarios
  • Review and refresh existing materials to keep pace with evolving products and technologies
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality across the courseware portfolio

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience as an Instructional Designer developing enterprise courseware — ideally in a technical or IT environment
  • Strong understanding of the enterprise technology landscape: server, storage, networking, hybrid cloud, data centre, and IT infrastructure concepts
  • Confident working with technical SMEs and turning deep technical detail into structured, learner-friendly content
  • Hands-on experience with authoring tools (e.g. Articulate Storyline/Rise, Captivate, or similar) and LMS platforms
  • Proven ability to work to comprehensive style guides and branding guidelines, maintaining strict consistency across a large body of materials
  • Excellent written U.S. English and a sharp eye for accuracy and detail
  • Self-directed and comfortable managing your own workload in a remote setting
  • Able to flex your hours to meet project deadlines during busier periods

Nice to have

  • Experience developing training for enterprise IT vendors or their partner/channel ecosystems
  • Familiarity with technical certification programmes
  • Relevant industry certifications or an instructional design qualification

The details

  • Type: Permanent
  • Hours: Part-time on average, with flexibility to scale up to full-time during peak delivery periods — hours negotiable for the right candidate
  • Location: Fully remote
  • Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

If you're an instructional designer who knows enterprise technology and enjoys making complex subjects click, we'd love to hear from you.
