Overview:
- Our Cybersecurity Technology & Engineering function is responsible for delivering solutions that protect the organisation against a wide range of cyber threats impacting the business, customers, partners, and employees. The team works closely with cross-functional technology and engineering groups to implement scalable and adaptable defensive capabilities in an evolving threat landscape
- The Engineering Excellence & Enablement team is a group of multi-skilled engineers and architects focused on designing and building integration solutions for cyber services. The team’s goal is to improve security outcomes by reducing engineering friction, enhancing DevSecOps practices, enabling pipeline integrations, and driving continuous improvement across engineering services and platforms
Role Overview
- We are looking for an experienced Engineering Excellence / DevOps professional with strong technical leadership capabilities to help drive engineering best practices across Cybersecurity Technology. This role requires hands-on engineering expertise along with the ability to influence teams, improve processes, and lead strategic engineering initiatives focused on automation, efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement
- You will work closely with engineering teams, technical leaders, product teams, and architects to mature engineering practices both within individual teams and across the wider cyber engineering landscape .
Key Responsibilities
- Support the establishment and growth of an Engineering Excellence program across Cybersecurity Technology
- Build and promote a community of practice focused on consistency, standardisation, automation, and continuous improvement
- Embed engineering best practices, efficiency, and scalable processes across teams with clear alignment on tools, systems, and delivery standards
- Partner with engineering leads and capability owners to deliver measurable improvements and desired engineering outcomes
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define requirements and build services/capabilities that meet security and control standards while ensuring operational efficiency and usability
- Drive the creation, evolution, and adoption of standard build and deployment pipelines across cyber engineering teams
- Promote cross-functional reuse and standardisation to improve speed to market and reduce duplication through a “build once, use many times” approach
- Coach and support Agile teams across the full product lifecycle—from concept through delivery—with strong focus on customer needs, standard patterns, inner sourcing, and reusable solutions
- Identify engineering standards and patterns to improve consistency and operational efficiency, and lead their implementation
- Partner with Product Management teams to support product selection decisions, ensuring non-functional engineering requirements are considered alongside functional requirements
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong DevOps experience with both hands-on engineering and solution/design-level expertise
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related scientific/technical discipline
- Extensive experience working as a Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer, or Technical Architect
- Strong experience working in high-performing technology teams within fast-paced or high-change environments
- Proven track record of driving engineering improvement initiatives within large and complex organisations
- Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to assess complex technical, business, and compliance requirements
- Experience influencing and working across cross-functional, global, and distributed teams
- Proven ability to build relationships, drive strategy, and deliver practical outcomes
- Strong understanding of engineering quality, systems engineering, design governance, compliance, and scalable solution development
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, influencing, and negotiation skills
- Fluent verbal and written English communication skills.
