  • Design, build, support, and optimise AIX and Linux environments (Red Hat, Oracle Linux, CentOS)
  • Provide 3rd line support and senior escalation for complex Unix incidents
  • Lead patching, upgrades, lifecycle management, and platform improvements
  • Support Unix platforms across on-prem VMware and public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, OCI)
  • Drive automation, scripting, and configuration improvements to reduce manual effort
  • Ensure Unix environments meet security, compliance, backup, and DR requirements
  • Work closely with cloud, infrastructure, security, and application teams
  • Contribute to platform strategy and mentor engineers within the team
  • Participate in an on-call rota and occasional out-of-hours work

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience supporting AIX and Linux in enterprise environments
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle Linux, including Ksplice
  • Experience across on-prem, hybrid, and cloud infrastructure
  • Solid understanding of virtualisation, storage, and Unix networking
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve complex, business-critical issues
  • Experience working in ITIL-governed environments
  • Confident communicator, comfortable working with senior technical and non-technical stakeholders

Required Skills

  • Unix or Linux certifications (RHCE, RHCSA, or similar)
  • Strong scripting and automation experience (Bash, Python, PowerShell)
  • Experience working in AWS, Azure, or OCI
  • Previous experience mentoring engineers or acting as a technical lead
