Parity Network is recruiting on behalf of a public sector organisation seeking an experienced Technical Lead for an initial 6-month contract. This is a hybrid role, with team collaboration taking place in Edinburgh or Glasgow as required.
About the Role
As an experienced Technical Lead / Senior Software Engineer you will join an agile development team working within the Housing Management Registers domain.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role requiring strong commercial experience with Java, Spring Boot and OpenShift. You will lead technical solutions, support architectural decision-making and help ensure the development team delivers secure, scalable and maintainable digital services.
You will also act as a link between the development team and architecture stakeholders, helping to establish best practices, technical standards and engineering principles.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership to a cross-functional agile development team.
- Design and implement robust, scalable software solutions.
- Lead technical improvements and help address technical debt.
- Contribute to architecture decisions and represent the team at technical governance forums.
- Ensure solutions meet security, accessibility, performance and maintainability standards.
- Work closely with Product, Service Design and Operations teams.
- Support DevSecOps, CI/CD and continuous delivery practices.
- Troubleshoot development and production issues.
- Coach and mentor other developers.
- Contribute to disaster recovery and service resilience activities.
- Strong commercial experience with Java 11+
- Spring Boot, Spring MVC and Spring Web Flow
- REST APIs
- Thymeleaf
- JavaScript / Node.js / Vue
- React, Next.js and TypeScript
- Strong HTML / CSS and accessibility awareness
- OpenShift and Docker
- Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines
- Modern DevOps practices
- Experience technically leading development teams.
- Strong software architecture and solution design experience.
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
- Experience with automated testing and quality engineering.
- Infrastructure as Code experience.
- Experience with monitoring/telemetry tools such as Grafana.
