What You'll Be Doing

Establish and maintain payroll partnerships support function that enables employers, advisers and payroll providers to integrate and operate our workplace pension services with confidence. Own the end-to-end support model—from help centre content and user guides to technical assistance and third‐party supplier management—ensuring scalable, high‐quality service. Act as a visible specialist across the payroll ecosystem, building strong relationships that grow our franchise and deliver commercial outcomes. Demonstrate leadership behaviours without direct line management by setting standards, influencing cross‐functional teams, and championing continuous improvement.

  • Provide specialist guidance on payroll integrations, data flows and APIs to enable efficient onboarding and ongoing service.
  • Build and nurture relationships with payroll bureaus and software providers to expand connectivity and co‐marketing opportunities.
  • Partner with Distribution and Client Relationship teams to identify opportunities, shape propositions and support pre‐sales and tenders.
  • Represent People’s Partnership at payroll and industry events (e.g., SD Worx Conference, CIPP Annual Conference, ICAEW Payroll Forums); act as the specialist voice in meetings with employers, advisers and partners.

What We’re Looking For

  • Deep understanding of UK payroll market, standards and regulation; knowledge of major payroll bureaus and networks.
  • Expertise in payroll integrations, data mappings and APIs; ability to liaise between clients and technical teams.
  • Strong grasp of workplace pensions (DC) and payroll‐pension interactions, including compliance requirements.
  • Ability to create and maintain help centre content, user guides and training materials for scale.
  • Commercial acumen with proven contribution to new business acquisition and partner‐led growth.
  • Event representation and specialist advocacy at industry forums.
  • Familiarity with leading payroll software (e.g., Sage, BrightPay, IRIS) and emerging platforms (e.g., Brain Payroll, PayCircle, IRIS Staffology).
