Site Reliability Engineer

Site Reliability Engineer – 6-Month Contract (Possible Extension) Edinburgh | Hybrid Working 37 hours per week | Start ASAP £550/day (Outside IR35) Are you a skilled Site Reliability Engineer with strong UNIX/Linux expertise and a passion for automation and infrastructure optimisation? Our client is looking for an experienced SRE to join a forward-thinking team on a 6-month contract, with the potential for extension. This role offers hybrid working, with a base in Edinburgh.You'll play a key role in supporting the migration to RHEL 8/9, driving automation, and enhancing observability, performance, and resilience across infrastructure and services. Key Responsibilities

• Support deployment and migration of services to RHEL 8/9
• Develop and enhance automation for disaster recovery activities
• Provide support for existing and new UNIX infrastructure
• Optimise existing systems and services for better performance and efficiency
• Deploy and support Ansible Automation Platform
• Manage and support Oracle Database 19c on Oracle Linux using KVM
• Maintain logging and observability stacks, including time-series databases
• Promote SLO/SLI tracking and measurement
• Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure
• Engage with external teams, providing guidance on platform/service consumption

Key Skills & Experience Required RHEL 7/8/9 system administration Red Hat Satellite administration? Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles? Scripting skills – Bash, Perl Experience with HAProxy, keepalived, and other load balancing tools? Expertise in Docker, container runtimes, and Kubernetes/OpenShift environments? Experience in CI/CD environments – Git, Git runners, Ansible Automation Platform? Monitoring & Observability:

• Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch
• Time Series Databases – InfluxDB
• Full stack admin: TICK, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Fluentd
