PMO Systems & Reporting Manager

We are looking for a highly technical, analytical, and delivery-focused PMO Systems & Reporting Manager to own and lead the strategy, design, and continuous improvement of our PMO systems, data flows, and reporting platforms. You will act as the technical authority for PMO tooling, defining workflows, integrations, and configuration changes that strengthen delivery governance and portfolio insight. You will also ensure data quality and reporting excellence through robust standards, enterprise-grade models, and automated insight products, while leading system upgrades, integrations, and technical change initiatives in partnership with IT and external vendors.

This role sits within the PMO team and plays a key role in strengthening portfolio governance, reporting capability, and data-driven decision-making across the organisation.

What you'll do as a PMO Systems & Reporting Manager

PMO Systems & Reporting Strategy
  • Own and lead the strategy, design, and continuous improvement of PMO systems and reporting platforms.
  • Act as the organisation's subject matter expert for PMO tooling, defining configuration, workflows, integrations, and system changes.
  • Ensure PMO systems support effective portfolio governance, delivery oversight, and management insight.
  • Provide expert-level guidance to PMO teams and project professionals on systems, reporting standards, and best practice.
Data Governance & Quality Assurance
  • Oversee end-to-end data governance and quality assurance across all PMO datasets.
  • Establish and enforce data standards, validation rules, metadata structures, and assurance processes.
  • Ensure PMO data is accurate, consistent, reliable, and fit for decision-making.
  • Maintain robust data structures, controlled vocabularies, data lineage, and appropriate access controls.
Enterprise Reporting & Insight
  • Develop, maintain, and optimise enterprise reporting models and automated insight products.
  • Design robust Power BI datasets, semantic models, dashboards, and reporting solutions for senior stakeholders.
  • Develop automated reporting pipelines that provide timely, trusted, and actionable performance intelligence.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, data quality, automation, and portfolio insight.
System Upgrades, Integrations & Technical Change
  • Lead system upgrades, integrations, and technical change initiatives in partnership with IT and external vendors.
  • Assess impacts, define technical requirements, lead testing, and make informed decisions on solution design and configuration.
  • Ensure PMO systems remain stable, scalable, secure, and aligned with governance standards.
  • Support integrations between PMO platforms, enterprise systems, and reporting environments.
Stakeholder Engagement & Technical Support
  • Work closely with the Head of PMO, PMO Manager, PMO team, project teams, and Commercial teams.
  • Influence, advise, and train PMO teams and project professionals on PMO systems, reporting standards, and data best practice.
  • Provide expert troubleshooting and technical support for PMO tooling, reporting solutions, and data processes.
  • Collaborate with IT teams and external vendors to deliver effective technical solutions and continuous improvement.
Base location - Hybrid - Clearwater Court, Reading

Working pattern - Full-time, Monday to Friday

What you should bring to the role

Essential Experience
  • Significant experience administering, configuring, and enhancing enterprise PMO or PPM systems, including responsibility for system design, workflows, integrations, and technical decision-making.
  • Demonstrable experience designing and governing high-quality portfolio data environments, including data standards, assurance frameworks, validation processes, and reporting structures across complex project or portfolio ecosystems.
  • Advanced experience developing enterprise-grade Power BI solutions, including semantic models, automated datasets, high-impact dashboards, and insight products used by senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to influence, advise, and train PMO teams and project professionals, providing expert-level support, troubleshooting, education, and guidance on PMO systems, reporting standards, and data best practice.
Essential Technical Skills & Qualifications
  • Advanced technical proficiency in Power BI and enterprise reporting, including data modelling, DAX, semantic models, reusable datasets, composite models, and automated reporting pipelines.
  • Strong SQL or equivalent query language capability, including designing, optimising, and troubleshooting complex queries, stored procedures, and transformations across relational and analytical data environments.
  • Hands-on expertise administering and configuring PPM / PMO systems such as Project Online, Project for the Web, Planview, or equivalent enterprise platforms, including workflow configuration, integrations, permissions, and customisation.
  • Deep understanding of data architecture and governance, including metadata management, controlled vocabularies, data lineage, validation rules, role-based access controls, and regulatory or compliance considerations.
  • Practical knowledge of Extract, Transform and Load (ETL), data integration, and automation tools, including Power Query, Power Automate, APIs, connectors, integration hubs, or equivalent platforms.
  • Strong working knowledge of database structures and modelling principles, with the ability to design, optimise, and troubleshoot data schemas, relationships, and performance issues across operational and reporting environments.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Excel for analysis and automation, including Power Query, advanced modelling, data transformation, automation techniques, and integration with wider reporting solutions.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience supporting or administering enterprise project management tools such as Microsoft Project Online, Planner Premium, Planview, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
  • Background in developing automated data pipelines or integrations between PPM tools and SAP systems.
  • Exposure to portfolio management, project controls, or governance frameworks within a PMO environment.
  • Experience working with APIs, scripting, or low-code automation tools to streamline reporting and data processes.
Desirable Technical Skills & Qualifications
  • P3O Foundation & Practitioner.
  • Relevant certifications in data analytics, BI, or project management tooling.
  • Project Management - Foundation level competence or intermediate level if working in a project context.
  • Programme Management - Foundation level competence, or intermediate level if working in a programme context.
  • Portfolio Management - Foundation level competence or intermediate level if working in a portfolio context.
  • Change Management - Foundation level competence.
  • Business Analysis - Intermediate level competence if working in a COE context.
