Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Camunda Technical Architect to lead the design and implementation of workflow‐driven solutions using Camunda (BPMN/DMN) within complex enterprise environments.

The role is responsible for defining end‐to‐end process architecture, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable, and acting as the technical authority across delivery teams and client stakeholders.

You will work closely with product owners, engineers, and business stakeholders to translate business processes into robust, executable workflow solutions on an exciting greenfield project.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Design

• Own the design, planning technical architecture for Camunda‐based workflow solutions
• Design BPMN and DMN models that are efficient, maintainable, and aligned to business outcomes
• Define standards for process modelling, versioning, error handling, and orchestration
• Ensure non‐functional requirements (performance, resilience, security, auditability) are met

Delivery & Implementation

• Lead or support hands‐on implementation using Camunda Platform (7 or 8)
• Guide teams on workflow orchestration vs microservice responsibility
• Review and assure code quality, process models, and integration patterns
• Support production readiness, including monitoring, logging, and operational support models

Integration & Platform

• Design integrations between Camunda and:
• REST APIs and event‐driven services
• Identity and access management (OAuth2 / OIDC)
• Data stores and messaging platforms
• Advise on cloud‐native deployments (Kubernetes, containers, CI/CD)
• Work with DevOps teams on deployment and environment strategy

Stakeholder & Governance

• Act as the technical authority for Camunda within projects
• Translate complex technical concepts for non‐technical stakeholders
• Support presales, solution shaping, and technical assurance where required
• Mentor developers and contribute to internal best practice and standards

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Technical Architect or Senior Engineer using Camunda
• Strong hands‐on experience with:
• BPMN 2.0 (process orchestration)
• DMN (decision modelling)
• Solid background in Java and/or JVM‐based ecosystems
• Experience designing distributed and event‐driven systems
• Strong understanding of:
• Microservices architecture
• RESTful APIs
• Asynchronous messaging
• Experience deploying and operating solutions in cloud environments
• Ability to balance pragmatic delivery with long‐term architectural integrity

Desirable Experience

• Experience designing and delivering React front ends, ideally for workflow‐driven or API‐integrated applications (SPA patterns, component libraries, and secure integration with backend services
• Camunda 8 (Zeebe) in production environments
• Kubernetes and container orchestration
• Observability tooling (metrics, logging, tracing)
• Regulated or compliance‐heavy environments (finance, public sector, healthcare)
• Consulting or client‐facing delivery roles
• Camunda certified
